About FIRST
We are Team 4405: The Atoms Family. We are proud members of FIRST Robotics. FIRST stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology" and that is exactly why they were created. Their mission statement is:
"The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership"
FIRST has worked hard to gain recognition of STEM in the minds of students to create a better future. More information can be read about FIRST at FIRSTinspires.org
We are a part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) division of FIRST. This is the highest level of FIRST. In FRC, high school students from around the world build a robot using engineering skills in order to participate in a specified game. This game changes every year and we have no way of knowing what the game is until Kickoff in early January. We then build our robot and we participate in two FIRST in Michigan (FIM) district events. If we qualify, we then move on to the FIM Championship, and then the FIRST Championship.
Mission Statement
Our goal is to create science/technology leaders by providing team members with the knowledge and self-confidence to design, construct, and program solutions to any given challenge. While embracing the FIRST values of gracious professionalism and coopertition both on and off the field, we will work to inspire each other to be critical thinkers and problem solvers using STEM.
